Bhutan
often revered as the ‘Land of the Peaceful Dragon’ is still regarded
as one of the last ‘Shangri-La’ in the Himalayan region because
of it's remoteness, it’s spectacular mountain terrain, varied
flora and fauna and its unique ancient Buddhist monasteries.
This journey offers the opportunity to see not only Bhutan’s
exquisite Himalayan scenery but to experience it's rich and
ancient traditions in Thimphu, the capital, Paro - it's second
largest town. The other two districts of Punakha (the old capital
of the kingdom) and Wangdi Phodrang (this valley is home to the rare Black Necked Crane, an endangered
species which migrate from the Tibetan plateau in winter). Out
of the 450-500 cranes in Bhutan 250-300 live in this valley. |
