Immunisations & General Travel Heath Advice

The following Immunisations are recommended, or should be updated or valid, when travelling to Nepal.

1.

Check your routine immunisation against Tetanus and Polio.

2.

Immunisation for Hepatitis A and Typhoid.

3.

Longer-term travellers usually more than several months may wish to consider their TB status as well as immunisation against     Diphtheria, Hepatitis B and Rabies. These will not be really necessary for the length of our trips, only if you plan to stay on afterwards for any length of time.

4. Vaccination against Meningitis A/C is certainly recommended.
5. Japanese Encephalitis occurs in the lowlands only, usually July - December.
6.

Malaria is a risk in the lowland and foothill areas towards the southern border of the country, and includes the Royal Chitwan National Park where some of our trips and extensions visit. There is no risk of Malaria in Kathmandu. The usual prophylaxis is Chloroquine and Proguanil.

For proper advice and timing of Immunisations at least four weeks before travel is recommended. We also recommend a dental check -up before you leave home.
